Major Engine Project Suspension |
![]() Rick's Jeep During Major Engine Project I purchased my 1982 CJ-7 in Savannah, Georgia March 8, 2000. The
purchase was kind of done on a whim as I saw the Jeep parked at an
abandon gas station across the street from the Oglethorpe Mall. I
had owned a brand new Chrysler Sebring convertible that I subsequently
sold when Kathy and I got married and purchased a house. So I
thought getting a Jeep to goof around with would be interesting. A
good friend of mine and fellow Auburn Tiger fan had a 1984 CJ-7 (He also
owned his own car care center.). The for sale sign said $4,000.
After a thorough inspection, it was clear that the vehicle was worth
nowhere near $4K, so after some negotiation it was purchased for $2,500.
It seemed like a small amount of money at the time for a backyard tinker
project. As anyone with a Jeep knows, it becomes like a religion. As can be expected of any devout Jeeper, the cost to buy my project was the small outlay. There have been several times when I've used the Jeep a my primary driver. Failures during those times (like the transmission) had to be done by professionals. There have been so many purchases and installations since 2000, it's become hard to remember them all. Of course the list doesn't include any tools along the way, but you get the point. This page (on the left) has links to pictures of some of the projects I've done or custom work done for me. The list of upgrades (I can remember) are listed below in the approximate order they occurred. Note than some later upgrades undid earlier upgrades. And the list keeps growing...
